2011 RetreatWe are very happy to report that our 3rd Deaf Marriage Conference/Retreat in Ridgecrest, NC on April 1-3, 2011 was a HUGE success! We had 51 (102) Deaf couples who registered. PTL!

The theme was “Overcoming the Challenges in Marriage: Worth the Efforts!“ There were 8 different topics under the theme: Anger & Apology, Respect: The Foundation for Good Communication and Sex, Developing Trust: Keys to a Growing Marriage, Things I wish I had Known Before we Get Married, Hearing/Deaf Couple Issues, How to Energize Your Marriage, Parenting/Family, and Marriage After Kids Are Gone.

We had Dr. Gary Chapman, a keynote speaker, along with 7 other workshop leaders: Dr. Jerry Seale, Dr. & Mrs. Donnie Wiltshire, Rev. & Mrs. John Wyble, Rev & Mrs. Larry Dawn, Rev. & Mrs. Jon Hoglind, Rev. & Mrs. Frank Moran, and Rev. & Mrs. Job Ayantola.

On Saturday, April 2 from 6pm-9pm, we had a banquet event, which included magic shows, song/skits, sharing most embarrassing moment during the marriage, and short messages. After this event, we had a “newly wed” game. We had a great time of romance and fun!

On Sunday morning, April 3, we had the panel discussion and worship service. One couple (Deaf/Hearing) shared a powerful testimony about how Christ changed their lives and their marriage. Everyone in the auditorium was touched or inspired by this. W2011 Retreatow! In addition, Dr. Jerry Seale, a licensed marriage/family counselor, met about 10 couples for private counseling throughout the conference weekend.
